Katherine & Chett's Wedding

It was hard to pick my favorite photos from Katherine and Chett's wedding. The day was truly magical and we captured many memories throughout the day. The family photos were taken in a field with an old barn as back drop. This field is only a few minutes walk from where I live. A magnificent spot where I am sure I will shooting again some day. We also did shots of the bridal party at O'Keefe Ranch, where the reception was held in a cozy barn setting. Congrats to you Kathrine and Chett and thanks for letting us be part of your big day.

Morten & Diana,
Thank you so very much for all of your hard work on our wedding day. The moments you captured are so special to us and the pictures are so beautiful! Thanks again; we really appreciated getting to know you a little bit and then having you there on our special day! We can't wait to show off our pictures :-)

The Columbia Icefield

One of the stops on our recent road trip to the Rockies was at the Columbia Icefield. It was not my first visit here but what was significant this time was how easy it was to see how the glacier has receded since my last visit. From the visitor center and up to the glacier markers have been placed so that you can see how much the glacier has receded since the early twenties. It's remarkable and if you are in this area make sure to stop and have a look around.

From Wikipedia:
The Columbia Icefield is an icefield located in the Canadian Rockies, astride the Continental Divide of North America. The icefield lies partly in the northwestern tip of Banff and the southern end of Jasper National Park. It is about 325 km² in area, 100 to 365 metres (328' to 1,197') in depth and receives up to seven metres (23 ft) of snowfall per year.

Beacon Studios Inc.

It is the second time now that I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with the team at Beacon Studios Inc. I shot the studio "in action" back in February and it was cool to be back yesterday seeing many of my photos on their walls as 18 x 24 enlargements. This time around Beacon Studios needed specific studios shots, some portraits and shots of the newly setup editing room.

Kathrine & Chett's Wedding - Rehearsal

Attending Katherine and Chett's wedding rehearsal today was hugely entertaining. The pastor and everyone was in a terrific mood and it should be a sure sign that tomorrows wedding will be no different. I am looking forward to it.

Peyto Glacier, Banff National Park

I am back from two road trips and have travelled more than 6,000 kilometers over the last couple of weeks. My blog posts have been absent in this period so I plan to do a bit of catching up over the next few days with updates of some amazing sites I have seen.

First up is the Peyto Glacier located in Banff National Park. We stopped here not knowing much about the glacier and as everything was hidden in the fog my expectations to this stop were quite low. A hike to the bottom of the glacier proved to be a great move. As we had only planned a quick stopped we proceeded on a hike without really knowing how far it would be. It turned out to be much closer than I had guessed. We were rewarded with an exhilaration experience as we were the only hikers at the bottom of the glacier. It was quiet, tranquil and the the clouds slowly lifted to show us the beauty of the surroundings.

Quote from Wikipedia:
Peyto Glacier is located in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, approximately 90 km (56 miles) northwest of the town of Banff, and can be accessed from the Icefields Parkway. Peyto Glacier is an outflow glacier from the Wapta Icefield, which rests along the Continental divide. Glacial silt, which is carried from the glacier by streams, ensures a turquoise appearance to Peyto Lake, a popular tourist destination. As is true for the vast majority of glaciers worldwide, Peyto Glacier has been retreating rapidly, especially since the last half of the 20th century, and has reportedly lost 70% of its mass since it was first researched. In 1987, an automatic weather station was constructed near the glacier that monitors temperature changes, radiation, and precipitation.

Banff, Johnson Canyon, Bow River

It is vacation time in Alberta's Banff region for Henrik, Jesper and myself. Yesterday what we thought was a short 30 minute hike turned into a four hour, 12K stint through the Johnson Canyon and up to the ink pots. A beautiful plateau awaited us here and it was a real treat. What a view! We made several other stops throughout the day but have still not encountered any wild life other than a small fox and a rabbit.

Moraine Lake near Lake Louise

It is nice to have been able to escape Vernon, the heat and the smoke. Perhaps it was a bit of a surprise that we are facing rain a temperatures in the range of 9-12 degrees but it's actually a real treat and we are enjoying some fresh air. I am here with good friends Henrik and Jesper. On our first day of exploring the Rockies we stopped at Moraine Lake.

Jenny and Brandon's Wedding

Congrats to Jenny and Brandon, who braved the 36 degree heat wave and were united in marriage at Mission Creek Park in Kelowna yesterday. Despite problems with the sound system and helicopers hovering above, attending local forest fires, the ceromony went really well. Jenny and Brandon took it in stride and everyone cheered as the walk down the isle husband and wife.

Terrance Mtn. Fire flares up again

The picture should speak it self. We could certainly see increasing smoke as we drove home from Kelowna today.
